Hailing from Hunstville, Utah, Little Sapling Toys is less than 10 years old and it’s already the front runner in toy sales on Etsy. But what’s really cool about this shop is that it’s a family business focused on more than what they produce in their wood shop. Their concern for the health and vitality of the planet has inspired them to plant a tree for each toy sold. Having said that, they prioritize the quality of their materials and the developmental value of their toys for growing kiddos. Plus, they offer laser engraving so that you can personalize your gifts for an extra special touch.
I picked out some of my favorite toys and teethers in their shop, but there are literally dozens of adorable options and I insist you browse them all. There is a darling selection of teethers and rattles ready for your next baby shower, ride-on on toys and push cars for toddlers, and games for older kiddos.
Little Sapling Toys is offering Gifts with Bows readers a special 10% discount on an order from their Etsy shop until August 31, 2015. Use discount code GFTWBWS10 at checkout!

Oh and FYI: this is not a sponsored post, and as always, all opinions are my own.
Today is a good day, friends! My dear friend Elle Hanna is on deck with super helpful mom-friendly review of Beautycounter’s Kidscounter line. Her darling boy, Tenney, shouldn’t be the only babe to benefit from Elle’s savvy. Put a few of these products in a gift basket the next time you shower a mama-to-be. OK, let’s hear from Elle:
:: Body Wash | Shampoo | Conditioner ::
Summer is (finally) just around the corner and that means longer days of building sand castles, and dirt-filled play sessions (as it should be)! Like most mom’s I worry that my little guy is playing with toys that are safe and non-toxic. I try to buy healthy organic foods to provide him with the fuel he needs to keep moving and exploring his world. I thought I was doing all I could to make the best choices for my family, and my budget. It never occurred to me that the soap I was using to wash the dirt away was potentially harmful. That’s when I came across Beautycounter’s Kidscounter line – Squeak Y Clean Body Wash, Nice Do Shampoo and Not A Knot Conditioner.
Beautycounter’s mission is to get safe products into the hands of everyone, and that includes kids. You won’t find any surfactants or artificial fragrances in their products. In fact Beautycounter has banned more than 1,500 ingredients opting instead to use antioxidant-rich ones like broccoli seed oil, carrot root and cranberry fruit extracts, and safflower oil for safe and effective cleaning power. These natural ingredients also make them very gentle on the eyes, which is good since my son rarely sits still, even in a bathtub. Also, the kid’s line is nut-free, gluten-free and vegan.
Finally, they make their safe products affordable enough to use on kids; in fact they are actually more affordable per bath than many other naturally-based brands.
We have so many choices to make as parents. For me, making sure the products I put on my son’s skin are as safe as the food he eats and the toys he plays with is simple. Want to learn more about BeautyCounter’s products? Read more here.

And if you haven’t already– tomorrow, Friday the 22nd, is the last day to enter the Queen Bee Giveaway!
Let me introduce you to GWB’s second Guest Gifter, Erica Goldschmitt. I asked Erica to put together a Baby Shower Basket because I am simply enamored with her too sweet for words collection of baby items in her online shop, Sew EMG. I wanted her to recommend a way to incorporate her handmade, heirloom quality gifts into a themed presentation for a lucky mama-to-be. She decided to go with a gender neutral basket with a Jungle Safari theme. You may remember her handiwork on GWB this past Easter. Well, I won’t keep you waiting any longer– check out what this Southern creative curated just for you!
I love the idea of keeping baby things as gender neutral as possible- even when they know what they are having…as cute as bows and ruffles are you don’t always want to get thirty pink outfits and matching bows and vice-versa for boys at your shower. Whenever I give gifts I try to always think of how it will be used years later and make sure it would be something that can be passed down to younger siblings.
- Safari Jungle Gift Basket by Sew EMG for $30 (use later as a diaper caddy!)
- Hello I’m New Here Onesie by Egg-a-go-go $19
- Aqua Patchwork Bib by Sew EMG $15 (Bow optional)
- Plush Elephant by Pottery Barn Kids $19 (I’m as southern as they come, so if you can stick a monogram on it, that’s even better!)
- Aqua Burp Cloth Set by Sew EMG $14 (Because if you’re going to be cleaning spit up- make it as cute as possible! Am I right??!)
- Art Print by Sarah Jane Studios ~$16 (sold out, others here…this shop great prints for both boys and girl! They have amazing fabric and even better customer service- I have a few prints of hers in my home now!)
- Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed Board Book $3.78 (I am huge sucker for children’s books- this was one of my favorites growing up too!)
All recommended gifts including the basket total less than $117!

Note: Solmate Socks are made of pure whimsy and cheer! Marianne Wakerlin, aka the Socklady, has spent about a decade and a half imagining the most darling mismatched socks. She holds a serious commitment to protecting the environment, which is why GWB is so thrilled so show off her knitted goods in celebration of Earth Day. “Like” this small town Vermont company on Facebook to keep her company in mind when you’re buying gifts for your most mindful friends.
Citrus Lane caters to the age of the recipient, making this gift
perfect for baby shower or for a toddler on her birthday.
For 40% off your first box click here and use code TAKE40
Note: Citrus Lane provided quite a delightful afternoon for my lively 3 year old, Zoe, this past weekend. We opened the box on the back porch and she dove right in. As you can see from the pictures, she played with the Green Toys Build-a-Bouquet playset, made hand prints and drawings with Eco Kids Non-Toxic Natural Finger Paint, ate a snack size pouch of organic chocolate cookies by My Super Foods and listened along to book on CD while flipping through the lovely illustrations of If You’re Happy and you Know It by Anna McQuinn. After doing a little research I can happily confirm that I paid about a quarter of the price of these items when packaged together in a Citrus Lane box– and not a single item went unused by our young tester. I’d call that a win.
So how does this work as a gift? You can buy a subscription for the lucky kiddo or baby for 3, 6 or 12 months. Then, once the recipient (parent) gets the gift notice, she can enter the code into the “Redeem A Gift” section of the website. Citrus Lane will ask for the child’s birth date to ensure age appropriate picks. Don’t forget: for 40% off your first box click here and use code TAKE40 at check out.
Teething toys may not be on her registry, but if you’re a mama you know her babe is going to need them– and plenty!
:: 1. Organic Plush Wooden Teether by Olives and Pickles $12 :: 2. Teething Necklace by Eternal Love Teething Jewelry
$26.99 $9.95 :: 3. Sophie the Giraffe Teether by Vulli $20.99 :: 4. Organic Teething Elephant by The Art of Cure $12.99 :: 5. Silicone Baby Teether by Como Tomo $6.99 :: ARK’s Grabber by ARK Therapeutic $9.99 ::
Note: My little teether, Ari (9 months) has just two teeth so far and his favorite picks are #s 5 & 6, hands down. The ComoTomo teether was recommended to me by fellow mama, nurse and BFF, Davia. The ARK’s Grabber was in Ari’s daycare classroom (he has genius teachers) and when I noticed his obsession I bought one for home. I’m pretty sure the reason he likes them so much is because he can actually fit them in his mouth. Oddly enough, many teethers do not provide this obvious satisfaction.
And just to make this as easy on you as possible: all recommended teething toys in this gift basket are available on Amazon PRIME. Who likes to pay for shipping anyways?
Today I’m so very happy to introduce the very first Guest Gifter to Gifts with Bows. Meet Dr. Katie Fry! I’ll let her take it from here:
I’m a young (at heart) wife, momma to a sweet boy, Benjamin, and newly minted pediatrician that loves all things crafty and creative. I research obsessively and pride myself on practicality (except for when something is just too cute ;-)) . I bought my own EZ bow maker when I was 9, absolutely LOVE making Halloween costumes, and save all of my Christmas ribbons as a challenge to reuse with minimal cutting the next year.
I currently live in Syracuse, NY but am prepping for a giant cross county move with 2 cats and a baby to San Francisco, CA in about 6 weeks! Yikes!
I’ve thought about dipping my toe into the blogging world for a while now, but haven’t figured our how to approach it, so I’m thrilled with the opportunity to guest blog on Gifts with Bows!
A brilliant bright pop of color on the table. Spill-proof and makes clean up a breeze!
