KO Sticks Foldable Star Sculptures

KO Sticks :: Collapsible Star Review :: $24-170 :: as featured on Gifts with Bows #giftswithbows #GWB #kosticks

Six-Axis Star c/o KO Sticks

This foldable star sculpture may just be the most giftable item I’ve ever featured on Gifts with Bows. Why? Well it works for just about anyone on almost any occasion:

It’s office appropriate, making it suitable for work anniversaries and first days on the job.

It’s chic in the living room (gorgeous for newlyweds ready for sophisticated decor and entertaining for families with kiddos), making it a lovely housewarming gift or wedding present.

And yes, even kids can make perfect recipients. Imagine hanging a few from the ceiling in their bedroom or playroom. Or keep them in reach… because these hand made works of art are intended to be explored by hand (see the evidence in the photo story below).

But it gets even better. Not only are KO Sticks Stars a widely practical gift, they come in several sizes and materials. That means you can buy one for $24-170 hitting whatever your appropriate price point happens to be.

Note: KO Sticks is comprised of two great artisans (and mathematicians), Jane and John Kostick. Married for just over 20 years, they met at a geometry lecture and now construct geometric objects side by side. Now isn’t that an equation you’d like to support? Give KO Sticks a follow on Facebook to give your newsfeed a welcomed pop of art.

The other day I took our stars off of the living room bookshelves where they are typically on display (see above). And brought them to the park so that our three year old, Zoe could show them to her friends. Ready to see a few thoughtful and curious faces? And park adventures, too of course!

Little Sapling Toys Review

Little Sapling Toys :: My Top Picks :: $6+ :: as featured on Gifts with Bows #giftswithbows #GWB #littlesaplingtoys

1. Personalized Camera $42 | 2. Memory Game $26 | 3. Personalized YoYo $6 | 4. Bowling Game $26 | 5. State Teether $12 | 6. Bow Teether $12

Hailing from Hunstville, Utah, Little Sapling Toys is less than 10 years old and it’s already the front runner in toy sales on Etsy. But what’s really cool about this shop is that it’s a family business focused on more than what they produce in their wood shop. Their concern for the health and vitality of the planet has inspired them to plant a tree for each toy sold. Having said that, they prioritize the quality of their materials and the developmental value of their toys for growing kiddos. Plus, they offer laser engraving so that you can personalize your gifts for an extra special touch.

I picked out some of my favorite toys and teethers in their shop, but there are literally dozens of adorable options and I insist you browse them all. There is a darling selection of teethers and rattles ready for your next baby shower, ride-on on toys and push cars for toddlers, and games for older kiddos.

Little Sapling Toys is offering Gifts with Bows readers a special 10% discount on an order from their Etsy shop until August 31, 2015. Use discount code GFTWBWS10 at checkout!

Oh and FYI: this is not a sponsored post, and as always, all opinions are my own.

Peppercorn Kids Review

Peppercorn Kids :: Review :: 10% Off :: as featured on Gifts with Bows #giftswithbows #GWBFor the little girl who lights up your life, on her birthday or any special occasion.

She’ll love the bright and cheery colors and you’ll love how they make her glow and brighten up her sweet world.

:: Exotic Paisley Headband in Scarlet Red$10 :: Tassel Fringe Necklace in Orange/White $17 :: Fish Bracelet/Anklet in Blue $12 :: c/o Peppercorn Kids :: Review

Have you ever bought something blissfully adorable for a darling kiddo, but despite your anticipation that she’ll immediately put it on, twirl and grin, she frowns and hands it back? Or worse. Yeah, this happens. And it’s totally disappointing. But despite living that scenario many times before, that is not what happened when Zoe peeked into the Peppercorn Kids package I presented to her. Her reactions? Total glee as she put on the necklace all by herself (oh thank you, magnetic clasp!). Utter amusement with the “fishy” bracelet and an outstretched arm to try it on. And a sparkly “thank you mommy!” when I brushed her hair out of her eyes and held it back with her new, vibrant headband. And to be honest, we rarely have headband success.

But it’s not just the quality or the cuteness of the PK products that got my interest. This is a company that cares about kiddos and the world they live in. Peppercorn Kids partners with St. Jude’s Hospital, a non-profit cancer research children’s hospital, to give hundreds of head scarves to children who have lost their hair to chemotherapy through The Rainbow Mission. In addition, PK proudly supports World Vision, a non-profit organization that works hard to help exploited children around the world to find hope and new life.

You’ll frequently see that I shine a light on companies with strong missions and beautiful intentions, and those things are quite apparent in Peppercorn Kids. When you give a child a PK gift it can serve as a great conversation starter to discuss St. Jude’s or World Vision, especially when a child is ready for an introduction to the importance and significance of philanthropy.

Box Subscription Review: Citrus Lane

Citrus Lane :: Monthly Box Subscription Review :: 40% off Coupon :: as featured on Gifts with Bows #giftswithbows #GWB

Citrus Lane caters to the age of the recipient, making this gift

perfect for baby shower or for a toddler on her birthday.

For 40% off your first box click here and use code TAKE40

Note: Citrus Lane provided quite a delightful afternoon for my lively 3 year old, Zoe, this past weekend. We opened the box on the back porch and she dove right in. As you can see from the pictures, she played with the Green Toys Build-a-Bouquet playset, made hand prints and drawings with Eco Kids Non-Toxic Natural Finger Paint, ate a snack size pouch of organic chocolate cookies by My Super Foods and listened along to book on CD while flipping through the lovely illustrations of If You’re Happy and you Know It by Anna McQuinn. After doing a little research I can happily confirm that I paid about a quarter of the price of these items when packaged together in a Citrus Lane box– and not a single item went unused by our young tester. I’d call that a win.

So how does this work as a gift? You can buy a subscription for the lucky kiddo or baby for 3, 6 or 12 months. Then, once the recipient (parent) gets the gift notice, she can enter the code into the “Redeem A Gift” section of the website. Citrus Lane will ask for the child’s birth date to ensure age appropriate picks. Don’t forget: for 40% off your first box click here and use code TAKE40 at check out.

***UPDATE: Congrats to our winner, Devora M.! ***

Freshly Picked by Susan Petersen features baby moccasins, totes and apparel. FP baby mocs aren’t just darling– they are molded for comfort and they actually stay on. Zoe is so blissfully happy to bounce around in her soft FP gold mocs and even refers to them as her “jumping shoes”- a necessity for her indoor trampoline. Freshly Picked is sponsoring this giveaway, but all opinions about their moccasins are my own.

Can’t wait? Buy here now for $60

All photos taken during a family brunch at Alto Cinco (definitely recommend the Tofu Scrambler, pictured below). Catch glimpses of Grandpa and Gigi (my parents) with Zoe and Ari. Zoe is wearing the gold moccasins c/o Freshly Picked.
