Sunday Best: Outfits from Janie and Jack

Sunday Best | Two Looks from the Janie and Jack Sale | Gifts with Bows

Boys Outfit: 1. Vest | 2. Cap  | 3. Cords  | 4. Loafers | 5. Shirt  | 6. Bow Tie

Girls Outfit: 7. Sweater | 8. Hair Bow | 9. Coat | 10. Skirt | 11. Tights | 12. Mary Janes

So Janie and Jack is having a major sale I thought it would be entirely appropriate to put together a couple of navy-inspired matchy sibling outfits for Sunday mornings and other fancy outings. Yeah? AND sale is 20% off. Yay for cuteness!

I don’t shop here often for our kiddos, but I do love it for a classic dress-up look. If you have a wedding on the horizon, scheduled family portraits, or just need a few outfits for church, check this store out. After out the ultrasound where we found out we were having a boy, Dan and I scooped up a few things here to celebrate the news. We left with a button down, suede booties and a wool barn coat. I think I was inadvertently channeling Tom from Downton Abbey. Or maybe this is just entirely typical of me. I’m definitely a fan of British style. Anyways, I think I got everything in 3T imagining how sweet it would all look on a toddler. Now Ari is 18 months, so we’re only halfway to seeing his dapper little ensemble. I know…ridiculous. But one Sunday down the road I’ll be glad for our stop at Janie and Jack. Go give a look!

Extra Advice: There are over half a dozen bow ties for $6-10 with buttons downs around $8-12. Get him set for picture day next year and 2016 winter holidays!

Christmas Countdown: 9 Baby Gifts

Christmas Countdown :: Babies :: as featured on Gifts with Bows #giftswithbows #GWBChristmasCountdown #GWB

1. Manhattan Toy Bird House $20.99 | This is one of my favorite toy brands. When Zoe was an itty bitty she received a very similar dog house set that has since been retired, but I’m really feeling this bird house! Zoe and Ari loved filling and emptying the house over and over and these plush little animals are safely sized for teething.

2. Christmas Board Book $4.27 | Both of our babes have enjoyed this brightly colored book featuring big color pops of holiday decor. It’s built tough and ready to be dragged around the tree a few dozen times.

3. Freshly Picked Moccasins $60 | They come in so many colors, work for baby boys and girls, and are the best of the best for leather moccs. Zoe and Ari each have a pair and I love that they are super comfy and match nearly any outfit. And for some reason they work for a stretch of 3+ sizes. Zoe’s size 8s still fit so well even though she’s grown to a size 10. Worth the investment!

4. Jellycat Puppy $22.50 | This guy is just calling out for all the snuggles. A good bet for a go-to bed buddy or a friendly addition to an awesome stuffed animal collection. He’s on Ari’s list!

5. Mushroom Rattles $12.95 | Well they’re just so darn cute, right? Ari has always been partial to toys that make noise when shaken… and possibly a bit disappointed when he shakes and gets silence. Adorable, noisy rattles for the win!

6. HABA Horse Swing $135.55 | Isn’t this just terrific? You can’t beat an indoor swing…unless it is shaped like a horse. Giddy up, babies!

7. Little People Nativity Set $33.99 | What a great way to start telling the Christmas story to your little babe. Little People (and animals) have a been a big hit with both of my kiddos, so I give an enthusiastic thumbs up to this seasonal set.

8. Pom Pom Stripe Hat $16.95 | Because Santa.

9. Radio Flyer Push Wagon $69.99 | Learning to walk is definitely going to happen and this wagon has two hugely awesome features to make it safe for baby and the furniture– a resist feature and a bumper. Plus Radio Flyer is classic, high quality and super cute. Get that camera ready!

Vilah Bloom Review & Giveaway

Vilah Bloom :: Review & Giveaway :: $129 :: as featured on Gifts with Bows #giftswithbows #GWB #vilahbloomHarbor Side Tote in ‘First Lady’ c/o Vilah Bloom $129

Hello, GWB readers! I have a major treat for you today! Vilah Bloom and Gifts with Bows have partnered up to offer you a thorough review and an amazing giveaway of the Harbor Side Tote. I can’t WAIT to give you the details on how to win one, but first let me tell you all about this supremely darling carry-all.

Before I got a chance to see this bag in person I had a feeling it was the one for me after reading this on their website:

“A Vilah Bloom mom is one that maintains her sophisticated yet casual style wherever she goes and is always prepared for life’s little messes.”

Oh yes. This is to a T what I imagine for myself. Can’t I please appear to be together? Goodness knows I’m human, but like many moms I do aspire to walk out of the house feeling organized and well assembled and… wait… where are my keys? Anyways, my hand is held up high: I am definitely a Vilah Bloom mom. Join me. I insist.

Moving on– When the bag arrived and I got a chance to check it out, look through all the pockets (there are 11!), and get to see up close that this is a seriously high quality, and chic take on the traditional diaper bag. Hello “fashion meets function”, I have found you at last! The style formula feels like 2 parts preppy, 1 part modern and a dash of “sneaky smart”, meaning even smarter than it (or s/he) looks.

Which leads me to my favorite part that gets me all “eeee” girly, bouncy, singsongy-voice. There is a built-in dispensing wipe system accessible from the OUTSIDE of the bag. That means with one hand (since you absolutely do not have two free hands when changing a baby or toddler) you can quickly grab your wipes without dealing with any zippers, snaps or containers. And get this– it is so intuitive that Ari figured out how to use it in a matter of seconds (as pictured below). For anyone new here, Ari is my sweet little one year old boy. He’s a peach of a model.

The genius behind this impressive technology is designer and founder, Jackelynn Garrett. She, of course, has two littles of her own, Vilah and Monroe. They all live together with her husband Travis and dog, Oscar in Northern Michigan. Jackie’s daughters serve as the inspiration for the function of her totes, while the designs are tributes to her childhood spent lakeside and express “a fresh, classic style that exudes the sense of effortless elegance- much like you would find along the shores at any lake house.” I think she nailed it!

A few quick bullets on the specs of the Harbor Side Tote:

Little Sapling Toys Review

Little Sapling Toys :: My Top Picks :: $6+ :: as featured on Gifts with Bows #giftswithbows #GWB #littlesaplingtoys

1. Personalized Camera $42 | 2. Memory Game $26 | 3. Personalized YoYo $6 | 4. Bowling Game $26 | 5. State Teether $12 | 6. Bow Teether $12

Hailing from Hunstville, Utah, Little Sapling Toys is less than 10 years old and it’s already the front runner in toy sales on Etsy. But what’s really cool about this shop is that it’s a family business focused on more than what they produce in their wood shop. Their concern for the health and vitality of the planet has inspired them to plant a tree for each toy sold. Having said that, they prioritize the quality of their materials and the developmental value of their toys for growing kiddos. Plus, they offer laser engraving so that you can personalize your gifts for an extra special touch.

I picked out some of my favorite toys and teethers in their shop, but there are literally dozens of adorable options and I insist you browse them all. There is a darling selection of teethers and rattles ready for your next baby shower, ride-on on toys and push cars for toddlers, and games for older kiddos.

Little Sapling Toys is offering Gifts with Bows readers a special 10% discount on an order from their Etsy shop until August 31, 2015. Use discount code GFTWBWS10 at checkout!

Oh and FYI: this is not a sponsored post, and as always, all opinions are my own.

Guest Gifter: Elle Hanna on Good Clean Fun

Today is a good day, friends! My dear friend Elle Hanna is on deck with super helpful mom-friendly review of Beautycounter’s Kidscounter line. Her darling boy, Tenney, shouldn’t be the only babe to benefit from Elle’s savvy. Put a few of these products in a gift basket the next time you shower a mama-to-be. OK, let’s hear from Elle:

:: Body Wash | Shampoo | Conditioner ::

Summer is (finally) just around the corner and that means longer days of building sand castles, and dirt-filled play sessions (as it should be)!  Like most mom’s I worry that my little guy is playing with toys that are safe and non-toxic. I try to buy healthy organic foods to provide him with the fuel he needs to keep moving and exploring his world.  I thought I was doing all I could to make the best choices for my family, and my budget. It never occurred to me that the soap I was using to wash the dirt away was potentially harmful. That’s when I came across  Beautycounter’s Kidscounter line – Squeak Y Clean Body Wash, Nice Do Shampoo and Not A Knot Conditioner.

Beautycounter’s mission is to get safe products into the hands of everyone, and that includes kids.  You won’t find any surfactants or artificial fragrances in their products. In fact Beautycounter has banned more than 1,500 ingredients opting instead to use antioxidant-rich ones like broccoli seed oil, carrot root and cranberry fruit extracts, and safflower oil for safe and effective cleaning power. These natural ingredients also make them very gentle on the eyes, which is good since my son rarely sits still, even in a bathtub. Also, the kid’s line is nut-free, gluten-free and vegan.

Finally, they  make their safe products affordable enough to use on kids; in fact they are actually more affordable per bath than many other naturally-based brands.

We have so many choices to make as parents. For me, making sure the products I put on my son’s skin are as safe as the food he eats and the toys he plays with is simple. Want to learn more about BeautyCounter’s products? Read more here.

Elle’s Fast Facts

  • Only about 10% of the 10,000 chemicals found in personal care products have safety data
  • The FDA allows companies to use chemicals like lead, formaldehyde and phthalates in the products we put on our, and our kids bodies every day
  • The EU has spent the last 20 years banning and restricting 1,300 ingredients and the US has only banned 11

And if you haven’t already– tomorrow, Friday the 22nd, is the last day to enter the Queen Bee Giveaway!

Guest Gifter: Erica Goldschmitt’s Jungle Safari Baby Shower Basket

Let me introduce you to GWB’s second Guest Gifter, Erica Goldschmitt.  I asked Erica to put together a Baby Shower Basket because I am simply enamored with her too sweet for words collection of baby items in her online shop, Sew EMG. I wanted her to recommend a way to incorporate her handmade, heirloom quality gifts into a themed presentation for a lucky mama-to-be. She decided to go with a gender neutral basket with a Jungle Safari theme. You may remember her handiwork on GWB this past Easter. Well,  I won’t keep you waiting any longer– check out what this Southern creative curated just for you!

Guest Gifter :: Erica Goldschmitt :: Jungle Safari Baby Shower Gift Basket :: as featured on Gifts with Bows #giftswithbows #GWB

Erica says:

I love the idea of keeping baby things as gender neutral as possible- even when they know what they are having…as cute as bows and ruffles are you don’t always want to get thirty pink outfits and matching bows and vice-versa for boys at your shower. Whenever I give gifts I try to always think of how it will be used years later and make sure it would be something that can be passed down to younger siblings.

  1. Safari Jungle Gift Basket by Sew EMG for $30 (use later as a diaper caddy!)
  2. Hello I’m New Here Onesie by Egg-a-go-go $19
  3. Aqua Patchwork Bib by Sew EMG $15 (Bow optional)
  4. Plush Elephant by Pottery Barn Kids  $19 (I’m as southern as they come, so if you can stick a monogram on it, that’s even better!)
  5. Aqua Burp Cloth Set by Sew EMG $14 (Because if you’re going to be cleaning spit up- make it as cute as possible! Am I right??!)
  6. Art Print by Sarah Jane Studios ~$16 (sold out, others here…this shop great prints for both boys and girl! They have amazing fabric and even better customer service- I have a few prints of hers in my home now!)
  7. Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed Board Book $3.78 (I am huge sucker for children’s books- this was one of my favorites growing up too!)

All recommended gifts including the basket total less than $117!
